Fun with the Juniors

 On Tuesday, the senior classes had the junior classes coming to visit their class. Room 1 came in our classroom and all of us got buddies. The junior class had less students in their class, so some of us had to share a buddy. I was with my friend Anna and a junior called Mariana. She was really playful, smart and fast at doing things. We played at morning tea,play break 1 and play break 2. She even made a game called Find the Ball. In the game there is a hider. The hider hides the tennis ball and hides herself.The hider then calls the rest of the players and they have to find the hider first give them a high five and  then go and find the ball. The first person to do that, gets to have a turn to be the hider. We also made a big Matariki star. We had to go with our buddies and  decorate a diamond shaped piece of yellow paper. Mariana was really fast at it and good at drawing so we got to two of them! At the end of the day, when everyone was tired, we played duck-duck- goose. We also played a game called stuck in the mud. I enjoyed the day and it was really fun.

Alkaline vs Acidic

 On Wednesday we did water analysis. Water analysis means that we have to check what type of water it is. First we got separated into groups. Each group was given a type of water. The different types of water were : Art sink tap water, bathroom sink water, sick bay water, fountain water and bottled water. My table was doing the art sink tap water.We had to test the pH level of the water. We got given pH sticks to test the water.The bathroom sink water's pH level was 7.0 which meant it was neutral, but our water was 6.0 which meant it was acidic.The rest of the group's water was 6.5 which meant it was acidic too but it was almost neutral.After the experiment everyone had questions, so we wrote them down and after the break we did research and answered our questions.

Panikeke

 Today we had a piece of marvellous Panikeke. A Panikeke is actually a Samoan pancake and this is my experience of eating it. It tasted like banana bread.I felt it, and it was warm. It smelled delicious, the beautiful smell filled my nose. I tasted it a little, and it was very crunchy. I liked the taste of the pancake so I bit inside, and the soft middle bit comforted my tongue. It tasted really good and I think you should try it too.

Looking At Bees

 Today we were looking at bees. Each of us received a little container with one dead bumblebee inside,  you could go in pairs if you wanted. I was with Grace and we had to share a container. Each of us got a worksheet. Every person (pairs) got a different type of bumblebee. Me and Grace got a Queen Bee! Each table got a magnifying glass and tweezers. Our bee was fluffy and striped. Its wings were in a flying position. We enjoyed the activity.
